Psionics

Here you will find a definition to every psionic term you can think of.  If I missed any, sorry about it and let me know about it and I'll try and add it. Sorry there's no particular order at the moment. =)   use the Ctrl+F function to find your term.

Psionics is a general term pertaining to anything having to do with psi, psi energy, or psionics.  This can include powers, abilities, the energy itself, or ways to manipulate it.

Psychokinesis is the umbrella term for most forms of Active Psi (See Below), including, but not limited to pyrokinesis, telekinesis, aquakinesis, amberkinesis, etc...  It literally means 'mind movement' and is generally thought of as telekinesis that can be used in more various forms.

Psychokinesis is the broad movement form, where Telekinesis is the direct movement form.  TK is thought of as only being able to move visible objects.  however, there are more forms than that.

• Macro-Telekinesis (M-TK)
  • Pertains to the movement of visible objects such as chairs and toasters. 
• Micro-Telekinesis (m-TK)
  • There is a difference between the 'M' and 'm'.  The capital refers to Macro, and the lower case refers to micro.
  • In some ways, m-TK is more or less Psychokinesis, however, it is still called m-TK
  • Pertains to the movement of particles at the atomic and sub-atomic levels.  This can include Pyrokinesis and electrokinesis.

Pyrokinesis is the use of m-TK to achieve temperatures great enough to cause combustion.  This is usually caused by the friction of the particles rubbing close contact.  But, know that it isn't actually the ability to cause or make fires, it is actually making heat, but a fire may often be the result of the heat.  This is a form of Micro-TK.

(Notice that the 'k' in Pk is lowercase signifying the subordinate power to Psychokinesis, or PK)

Gelukinesis is pretty well the opposite of Pk(notice insubordinate 'k').  It uses the reversal of kinetic energy to slow down the movment of particles resulting in a cool down.  At a specific temperature (depending on substance), it begins to freeze.  It is generally thought of as ice though.  This is a form of Micro-TK.

Amberkinesis, literally electicity movement in latin, is the occurence of a charge made by exciting electrons.  This may be done through friction (A transfer of charges), creating a surplus of electrons of either (-) or (+) charge, and then equalization by electric shock, or by forcing a large amount of electrons to become agitated through energy manipulation and forcing them through a conductor.

Aquakinesis, water movement in Latin, is not the art or practise of making water per say, but rather moving it and/or condensing it.  If you are in fact creating water, then you have a totally different power.

Terrakinesis, earth movement in latin, is the manipulation of earthly objects and compounds.  This excludes any artificial solids including concrete.  However you may manipulate the ground below which in turn moves the concrete.  There is no real 'fine line' between what is earth and what isn't, but using your power will definitely yield that fact.

Teleporting, far off transporting, is the ability to move a physical body through space (And possibly time, making it Chronokinesis) without outside means of transportation.  There are a few kinds...

• Jumping
  • This is pretty much when you just teleport with no real other items or events involved.
• Worm Hole
  • This is teleportation through a hole that has been ripped through the fabric of space and brings two spots close enough to only take a step to get to.
• Port Key
  • A port key is an item that either teleports upon touching due to enchantment(this site has nothing to do with that... psionics and magik are separate topics), or psionic command via psi ball, etc...
• Umbrageous
  • Umbrageous Teleportation, or Shadow walking, is another magik related form of teleportation, however it is still teleportation and merits a place here.  It is practised by walking into a shadow and appearing out the other side through a shadow.  This technique combines Jumping and Worm Hole mechanics and is

    accomplished by deactivating light particles and converting said particles into a dark version of a wormhole, AKA, a black hole of sorts.

 

Telepathy is typically thought of as just mind reading, but there's more than one kind.

• Audio Telepathy
  • Audio Telepathy is just simply hearing thoughts or Mind Skimming.  An Audio Telepath can only read current thoughts.
• Visual Telepathy
  • A Visual Telepath can see the things you do in his/her mind eye.  Sometimes they can even see what you see through your own eyes.
• A/V Telepathy
  •  An A/V Telepath can see and hear what you think.  If they are advanced enough in their power, they
  may be able to see and hear what you are experiencing.
• Interactive Telepathy
  •  An Interactive Telepath can have a conversation with you in a mind like, see and hear what you are thinking, and possibly even experience what you are at the moment.
• Invasive Telepathy
  • Invasive Telepathy is the most difficult to learn and the most
  privacy invading.  Invasive Telepathy includes Audio, Visual and usually Interactive telepathy and allows the user to access memories, emotions and thoughts.

Active Psi refers to any form of Psionics that affects outside matter.  This can include TK, PK, Pk, Teleportation and Retrokinesis(Forcing Odds).  It is also known as Psi-Gamma

Passive Psi includes anything that doesn't directly influence a physical object.  This includes ESP, Clairvoyance, Psychometry, Precognition and Telepathy.  It is also known as Psi-Kappa.

Psychometry is the practise of gleaning information from objects and surroundings.  This can include what it is made of, what has/had happened to that object previously, or someone who was in the room and interacted with the object such as walking on a floor or sleeping in a bed.  There is also Tele-Psychometry where no direct interaction is needed to glean information.

ESP stands for Extra Sensory Perception, which basically means that the body is getting information outside of the five known senses. IE: sight, hearing, tasting, etc...  ESP can be used for a number of things, including seeing if your husband/wife is cheating on you, your daughter is really pregnant and others!  Sorry, i felt like having fun.  But ESP can be used to ask questions like that, predict the future to a degree and more.  It all depends on what you're looking to know and how it works for you.

Precognition (Pre-cog) is seeing something right before it happens.  anywhere past 6-12 hours and it becomes clairvoyance.  A pre-cog moment can come in a vision or a sudden knowing, but never dreams. 

Clairvoyance can be anything from havin a dream to something like Precognition.  But only after a certain amount of time has elapsed does it become Clairvoyance.  Clairvoyant visions are also involuntary (As with precognition).  A voluntary one is considered ESP.

This is a power that is basically used as mind control.  It can be a form of Interactive Telepathy or invasive Telepathy.  The other way is through spoken words and Psi energy acting as a hypnotic to make the person more suceptable to influence.

Reactive Adaptation is a state of mind or being when a person is ready to change to meet the needs of the body depending on the environment.  Say in a desert, the metabolism will slow down, using less energy causing homeostatic(The body's ability to keep a constant temperature) thermal energy to lower resulting in less sweat and less water being lost.  Or in a situation of little oxygen, a similar effect.  Or in a situation of needing quick thinking, teh brain become more adept at learnign and evolving.

Empathy is similar to Telepathy, however it is geared toward emotions rather than thought.  For most people(including myself), it is felt as if it were one of their own emotions.  Sympathy also falls in this category.

Basically, it's the means of manipulating light to create shadow by a means of emmition of a repulsive field and manipulation of obverse polarities.

In Layman's terms:  Repelling photons with an electrical field.

Divination is the means by which people predict the future.  There are various forms of it.  One is by thinking of a question and allowing the energy to guide you to your answer.  Another is by using energy manipulation devices to show the future in accordance to a question.
